It’s easy to feel more like a girl in a new black pencil skirt and 3 inch blue suede pumps. πŸ™‚ Though listening to Green Day on the way in and now the baseball game from last night is very much diminishing the feeling.

These might be my favorite pair of shoes ever. They are high, very attention-grabbing and insanely comfortable. DSW Clearance section, I love you so very much.

Glee Instant Reaction

Jonathan Groff is fucking gorgeous.

Ok, so I was bad and I didn’t study like I should have for my GMAT test in two weeks. I just rescheduled it for May 15th which gives me 6 weeks. I had to pay a fine but I figure it’s better to do that than to waste the entire registration fee on a test I’m not ready to take. Load off my shoulders but I have to be good this time.

Oh how I annoy myself at times.

Happy Easter everybody! Besides my mandatory listening of Jesus Christ Superstar and watching The Ten Commandments last night on ABC, I have not celebrated this holiday in any way this year. Easter hasn’t been a big deal for me since I stopped coloring eggs. Still, for those of you who do or did celebrate with family and friends, I hope you enjoyed it, ate lots of ham and eggs and enjoyed this beautiful weekend we’ve had.

I’ve been neglecting my poor blog lately. I don’t have much an explanation for it, I just haven’t felt like blogging lately. Even my Lost blog is suffering. Anyhoo, here’s an odds n’ ends post of stuff going on:

  • First thing is a product endorsement. I’ve had some hit and miss with things from Sephora but this stuff is AMAZING! It’s a body lotion from a company called Pacifica and it’s vegan meaning no animal testing or bad ingredients or anything like that. I got the Tahitian Gardenia scent and it’s heavenly, lasts a long time, and makes your skin very soft. Check it out,Β  you can get it at Sephora or Sephora.com for $22 – worth every penny as its also a huge bottle!

  • May I also suggest Clinique Moisture Surge Gel face moisturizer. It’s a gel so it’s not oily at all, doesn’t leave any greasy mess on your face, absorbs lightning fast and is very nice and cooling. It’s a bit pricey but it’s worth it for people with oily skin like mine as it doesn’t lead to breakouts. It’s also pink and has no odor which is nice too. πŸ™‚
  • Almost too warm for early April isn’t it? I was out walking around yesterday in a t-shirt, jeans and sandals and I was burning up. The sunshine sure has felt nice though. I’ve been too afraid to check the weather for the upcoming week cause this has been so nice.
  • Stressful weeks usually end meaning huge shopping sprees for me and this week was no exception. 5 new pairs of shoes (2 of which were clearance) and I can now proudly say I own a pair of blue suede pumps!, 5 new shirts, a beautiful skirt (finally found a pencil skirt that I can wear), and a new towel set. Much of this was thanks to a very overly generous Macy’s gift card I got for my birthday. I spent over two hours in Macy’s yesterday. It was heaven.
  • But yes, this past week was extremely stressful and unfortunately it was due to two things that I cannot talk about on here. My anxiety medication works really well except when I get overly stressed out. Then I find itΒ  very hard to even keep my wits about me. But this too did pass and now it’s all good…I think. πŸ™‚
  • Spent much of my weekend trying to purge my apartment of unnecessary things. I got through clothes, shoes and cd’s and that’s where I stopped. I have a lot of crap is what I’m trying to say. I’m getting rid of three full garbage bags of clothes and shoes and at least 20 CDs. Crazy.
  • I have been 100% removed from what’s going on in the world. I feel bad about that but I can only handle so much at one time. I know that health care bill thingy got signed and that a lot of people are overreacting to it and that there have been multiple bombs and suicide bombings going off overseas. I really need to catch up, I’m being bad.
  • My DVR is 85% full. This is not good. I’m so behind that I’m wondering if it is even worth catching up, especially with Glee coming back soon.
  • There are so many friggin’ shows I want to see in New York!!! I need more money…or I need to stop spending money. My credit cards are going into witness protection this week I think.
  • I’m going to be out of commission for the next two weeks I think so that I can study for the upcoming GMAT test. With the one exception being next Sunday when we all go to Lauren’s bridal shower (yay!), it’s nose to the ground time. Oh joy.
  • I hate it when I want to talk about something on my blog and I can’t because I can’t talk about it at all. Sucks. Please don’t guess cause I won’t respond to it even if you’re wrong. Just know that there’s something I’d like to talk about on here. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been on here recently. Hmm.

On a less confusing subject, the 2010 MLB season starts tonight with the Red Sox vs. Yankees. I’m going to watch the game as these ones are always dramatic and I’ve been awaiting the start of baseball for a long time now. Of course I’m much more excited for the Mets season opener tomorrow at 1:10.

I’ll say it right here and you can quote me: The Mets are winning the NL East and the World Series I’m hoping for is Red Sox v. Mets with the Mets, of course, coming out on top. Hey, a girl can dream. Plus my boss promised to take me to a World Series game if it’s those two against each other (and I’m SO holding him to that!). He’s a huge Red Sox fan. So much fun to share an office with him right now. πŸ™‚

BWAHHHH!!!!! Head spinning, feet not on ground. This March has been the single craziest month I think I’ve ever had and there’s still one more day to go. Please let me get through it!

Cannot wait for this weekend. Entire weekend with no set plans, no commitments, first and last for a long time. I’m spring cleaning, emptying my apartment of all this junk that I don’t need. It’s going to be splendid. I’m going to empty my DVR that is almost full, I’m going to sleep in, I may even take in some sunshine. Seriously can’t wait. I’m even excited to study for the GMAT. Yeah, that’s how desperate I am right now.

But first, I think there’s a mysterious show about an island I need to watch in, oh, about 8 minutes. Toodles!

Friends in Dress Clothes

Why is it that when any sitcom puts its characters in dressed up tuxes and dresses it results in absolute hilarity? Example #1: my favorite Friends episode “The One Where Everyone’s Late”

Example #2 is tonight’s How I Met Your Mother. Laughing myself off my couch.

Hello everybody! I just got back from a most wonderful long weekend on the cape at Mom and Ruth’s. Here’s some odds and ends from the past 4 days:

  • Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes via phone, text and net. Much appreciated.
  • I turned 27 on Sunday. Yeah, that seems about right. I think I can say I feel 27.
  • ABC Family was doing another one their “Harry Potter Weekends” and since Mom, Ruth and I watch Harry Potter whenever it is on, I watched a solid part of the first 5 films over the course of the weekend. I seemed to have missed out on the end of Goblet of Fire and a good chunk of Order of the Phoenix but otherwise I think we hit ’em all. My family can recite Harry Potter. Yeah, we’re cool like that (and I’m not being sarcastic there). We have a theory that if Newton and Sophie were to ever meet Daniel Radcliffe, they’d recognize who he was.
  • Saw two movies: The Bounty Hunter (ick) and The Ghost Writer (cool but strange.
  • Finally watched one of Ruth’s favorite movies: The Hitcher starring Rutger Hauer. Pretty awesome. Lesson: don’t EVER pick up a hitch hiker.
  • On the way out there, I discovered the best Muse song ever, called “Map of Your Head” on the Hullabaloo Soundtrack. Effing A!
  • Mom and Ruth were getting rid of some of their books and VHS tapes meaning I came home today with probably about 15 VHS movies and easily 20 to 30 books. Awesome! Absolutely no room for any of it.
  • Though what I really don’t have room for but am very excited I got was a bike. Mom insisted that she wasn’t using hers so I’m trying it out for a while to see if I want it. It looks very big in my crammed apartment. Considering I had to be taught how to even get on it, I might want to get a helmet before taking it out. It’s been awhile…to say the least.
  • The beautiful weather this weekend extended to the cape meaning that Saturday we went to a number of different, remote and beautiful places on the outer Cape. They took me to easily the creepiest place in Eastern Mass, an abandoned military base that was once used as a radar base to look out for invading Soviets. The place looks like a virus got airborne and killed everyone, leaving everything just as it had been when in use. There are some very circumspect ovens in one corner and a creepy-ass sign by the drive that says “Careful, children at play.” Stephen King, here’s your next story.
  • Ruth made me her meatloaf and it was scrumptious. πŸ™‚
  • Got to spend loads of time with Newton and Sophie who are both getting on in years. Bernese Mountain dogs have a lifespan of 6-8 years though getting up to 10 for a healthy dog is certainly not unheard of. Newton has just turned 7, Sophie 6. Newton seems to be doing okay but Sophie is having joint problems but she was as sweet as ever. It was really nice to spend time with them. I know it’s not going to be too many more years before they are gone. Newton was especially affectionate, up until this morning when I think he got the idea that I was leaving and so he pouted and ignored me. I fed him coffee yesterday morning and saw him bounce around the living room for awhile which was very amusing. He loves coffee and he is terrified of the noise the living room recliner makes. Connection? πŸ™‚

Okay, now on to the part you all want to know about. It was, after all, my birthday and yes, I did get spoiled this weekend. Needless to say, I have the most generous mother and stepmother in the whole world.

  • I got a Macy’s gift card so as to get new towels and whatever else I need for the apartment which is totally awesome. I had to promise not to spend it all on shoes.
  • All my meals, movies and snacks were paid for. I tried to sneak in a lunch or something and finally my mother let me buy her a coffee roll at Dunkin Donuts this morning. Eesh!
  • A trip to the Cape is not complete without getting something at Mom’s store Impulse. I got three things – two of which I paid for!
  1. A beautiful shiny necklace that changes color in the light. Quite a statement piece. Brand new to Impulse this year.
  2. Another pair of the mismatched socks. Their socks are so warm and comfy, come in zany colors, and are perfect for weekends. I now have 4 pair. πŸ™‚
  3. This one was the kicker and it made me cry. Impulse has had this necklace with a pendant made out of two shades of lava rock for over a year. I’ve been admiring it for over a year, occasionally wearing it at the store and what not. I would’ve gotten it first thing if it wasn’t extremely expensive, even with my personal family discount (only for me, sorry. hehehe). Well, I couldn’t decide between this lava necklace and the shiny one I spoke of in #1. I finally went for the less expensive and then before I even saw her do it, my mom slipped the lava necklace into my box. I started to argue but she said she wanted me to have it. I insisted on paying something so I now owe her a small portion of what the necklace actually cost. It was so nice of her. I’m so spoiled! But now I’m the proud owner of a gorgeous and expensive piece of lava jewelry that I’m sure you all will be seeing very soon.
  • And finally, a truly poignant gift. For as long as I can remember, my mother has had this teardrop diamond pendant that she used to wear to special occasions. From a very young age, I’ve expressed a wish to have that handed down to me should anything happen to her as it’s the one piece of jewelry I can immediately associate with my mother. Well, she decided to give it to me now. So there you go, I have another family heirloom. What I didn’t know was that the pendant was her grandmothers. Isn’t that the point of jewelry? To have meaning like that?

So, yeah, I’m spoiled. But even besides the pretty things and gifts, it was so nice to be with my family. I needed a break to clear my head and I know these people will always be in my corner no matter what.

Hope you all had a great weekend too!

PS: Don’t even ask. Of course I got the New Moon DVD and yes, I’ve already watched most of it. Please.
